WELCOME [BACK] TO THE GYM

August 06, 2020

Heading back to the gym? We've broken down when to expect when you head back to your fave class!

It’s time for some real talk. We’ve missed the gym so much, and we can’t wait to sweat with friends IRL again. Don’t get us wrong virtual workouts are amazing (we personally love doing ours dock-side) but there’s something extra special about working out with a crew #PropsCrew.  But let’s be honest, the gym environment we loved so much has changed.

In an effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus, gyms across the nation shuttered immediately after the COVID-19 outbreak began. After four months, many gyms and fitness studios have been given the green light to re-open - with new safety protocols in place - but what exactly will they look like? We’ve broken down what to expect and a few tips on how to keep yourself and everyone else safe.

THE NEW NORMAL

Firstly, expect smaller class sizes - that means no more sweating on your neighbour. Gyms are decreasing capacity to ensure adequate spacing between you and your workout buddy, some have even installed plexiglass shields between stations.

When you first arrive at your fave studio, expect atemperature check. Don’t worry, it only takes a second and is hands free! You may also have to answer a few COVID screening questions.

It looks like thecheck in process has changed at most studios and everything is now touchless. Check to see if you require an app before you head into the space to make the process as smooth as possible for everyone.

THE KEYS TO SUCCESS

  • Read up.Studios have been great at sending out communication on what to expect when you return to classes. Take a peek in your inbox (and sometimes you’re junk folder) to make sure you’re up-to-date! If you have any questions at all, reach out to the gym or studio - they’d love to hear from you.
  • Pack light. The days of lugging half your wardrobe to the gym are over. Take only what you need: indoor shoes, pre-filled water bottle, PROPS gloves, small towel, as lockers and showers (yep, showers) are unavailable in most studios for the time being.
  • Germ protection. While it’s incredible that we’re able to head back to some of our favourite workout classes, we are still in the midst of a pandemic and you still need to protect yourself and others. PROPS gloves help minimize germ transfer keeping and help you focus on your workout. When you’re done your class just peel them off and you’re set.
  • Masks. love them or hate them many studios require them when in the lobby - wear a mask.
  • Outdoor. Still feeling a little nervous taking your sweat session indoors? Many studios are still offering a variety of options for class alternatives including online and outdoor.

THE COMEBACK

We’re so thrilled to be able to train at gyms again. Here at PROPS we believe in the power of sweat, the power of community, and the power of a comeback. Support each other and the businesses and studio’s that you care about. This is a scary uncertain time for all of us, but we’re all in this together and will come out of this stronger. Plus, who doesn’t love a good comeback story?

See you at the mat, barre, bag and bike!

PROPS TO YOU 👊🏼
